Garden Cottage Flowers
‘Flowers always make people better, happier, and more helpful;
they are sunshine, food, and medicine to the soul.’
Luther Burbank (horticulturist) 1849-1926
We are husband-and-wife team Eden and Claudia, both gardeners by profession, and work a smallholding on the western edge of the New Forest. In a quiet corner on the holding, we grow cottage garden flowers.
The starting point was a small plot in front of our little bungalow – Garden Cottage. We had decided to raise and sell cut flowers because of the sheer joy to work with plants that offer so much variety and are so rich in colour, scent and texture. No year in the flower plot is like another, as all the plants develop in tune with the seasons, weather and climate. We have expanded the growing space and aim to cultivate lots of different flowers and other plants, including herbs, suitable for cutting in small quantities. Additionally, we forage for foliage and some wildflowers on the holding.
Depending on the weather, flowers are usually available from May to September, with the main flush from June to August - perfect for summer weddings.
